Green Collect joins the Purpose Precinct

Last week Green Collect completed the final touches to their new shop in the historic F laneway at Queen Victoria Market as they were welcomed to the Purpose Precinct. Green Collect has been operating as a social enterprise for over two decades with a vision to create a world without waste, whilst also supporting jobs outcomes for people who experience barriers to employment.

Green Collect has come on board as a Delivery Partner as Ben Carroll MP announced the Victorian Government’s support to expand the Purpose Precinct. The Purpose Precinct aims to be the thriving front door of social enterprise in Victoria. Already stocking a range of clothing, homewares, pantry and gift items from 30 Victorian social enterprises, the expansion will see an increase in the retail footprint at Queen Victoria Market plus development of a range of initiatives that will support, incubate and grow the social enterprise sector.

Green Collect’s role will be to support the Purpose Precinct’s circular economy, social enterprise incubation and jobs creation goals. This includes working to create greener outcomes from the Queen Victoria Market’s non-organic waste streams. The Green Collect shop at Queen Victoria Market will be dedicated to circular economy products and retailing products from social enterprises that are focused on circularity (as well as creating job opportunities on and off site).

“Green Collect is a natural partner to help deliver some of the core aims of the Purpose Precinct. As leaders in social enterprise, purposeful retailing and circular living, they bring an extraordinary amount of knowledge to the table that can support the social enterprise sector. They will also curate a beautiful space for shoppers who seek to purchase more consciously,” said Llawela Forrest, Purpose Precinct General Manager.

Green Collect has already commenced creating market-sourced circular products, the first being their new upcycled Market Fruit Box notebook made from discarded cardboard fruit and vegetable boxes, and on sale exclusively at the Purpose Precinct at Queen Victoria Market.

“Green Collect is excited to be joining the Purpose Precinct! We can't wait to bring loads of circular products to the Queen Victoria Market showcasing green innovation and social enterprises from across Victoria. Every product has a positive story for both people and planet - from job creation to circular design, you'll find inspiring purpose-filled products and makers. Please drop in and say hi!,” said Sally Quinn, Green Collect Chief Executive Officer.

Green Collect is located in shed F19 in the F laneway (enter via Peel Street) and is part of the growing Purpose Precinct cluster of shops at Queen Victoria Market.
