We are so excited to see the Aboriginal Flag making it's return to the world!
It was a significant moment in history when together we #FreedTheFlag.
The Government made an announcement on the 25th Jan, 2022 to see this iconic flag- that has become a symbol of Aboriginal Australia - freed and available for public use.
The top half of the flag is black to symbolise Aboriginal people. The red in the lower half stands for the earth and the colour of ochre, which has ceremonial significance. The circle of yellow in the centre of the flag represents the sun.
The designer Harold Thomas says the colours of the flag represent the Aboriginal people of Australia and their spiritual connection to the land.

CLOTHING THE GAPS

Clothing The Gaps is a Victorian Aboriginal organised and led clothing company that focuses on making both ‘Mob Only’ and ‘Ally-Friendly’ clothing that aims to influence social change by uniting Indigenous and non-Indigenous people through fashion items. The name of the company itself is a play on ‘Closing the Gap’—the health initiative to close the life-expectancy gap between Indigenous and non- Indigenous people. With 81% of their workers Indigenous, Clothing the Gaps is dedicated to producing merchandise that proudly represents their ethos and workers, while celebrating Indigenous people and culture.
