“We are Home” shares a story of migration to Australia and building a connection to community and place. The children of the Co-op tell the story of finding land to grow traditional crops, and the establishment of a farming cooperative. Written in three different languages, English, Swahili and Kirundi, the book has a particular focus on African customs, and aims to support and educate Sunraysia immigrants. Artwork and illustrations are inspired by children ages four to thirteen that attend the Food Next Door Co-op school holiday program. Proceeds of sales go to running the school holiday program.

Food Next Door Co-op
Food Next Door Co-op is a cooperative that celebrates multiculturalism in Mildura, Victoria. They use regenerative farming techniques to grow cultural grains and fresh produce without chemicals on underutilized and abandoned farmland in the Sunraysia region. Their programs empower refugee families by giving them access to farmland and peer-to-peer training to grow foods with cultural flavours and build a strong and resilient community. FNDC help new arrivals to quickly connect with their communities and promote the regeneration of lives as well as soils.

We aim to dispatch orders within 1-2 business days. If you've left it to the last minute and urgently need something then please get in touch or order for local pick-up to avoid transport delays.
